I just wanted to watch anime.

I grew up loving anime and practicing my faith, and I got tired of choosing between them. Skipping ahead blind, hovering on the mute button, quitting shows twenty minutes in. Anyone with a line they don’t want crossed knows this routine, whatever their reason for the line.

So I built a tool that watches with me. It knows where the scenes are, down to the frame, and it handles them so I don’t have to. I called the first version HalalScreen, and the first preset is still called Halal Mode. That’s the origin and I’m not shy about it.

Then something I didn’t expect: people who don’t share my faith wanted it too. Different lines, same problem. A parent’s line, a “just tired of fanservice” line. The tool didn’t care. A timestamp is a timestamp.

That’s Plot Armor. Protection the story gives its heroes, extended to the people watching. Whatever your line is, it’s yours. Now it’s a setting.
